Sunday School Lesson, January 18, 2026, Prayer & Humility: Bible Trivia That Helps Kids Learn How to Pray
Teaching children how to pray is about more than memorizing words—it’s about helping them understand who God is and who we are when we come before Him. One of the best ways to do that is through Bible trivia, because questions invite kids to think, respond, and engage with Scripture in a fun and meaningful way.
This week’s Bible trivia lesson focuses on Prayer and Humility, using three powerful passages that show us how God hears humble prayers and responds according to His will.
1. Abraham Shows Us How to Approach God (Genesis 18:25–27)
When Abraham prayed for Sodom, he didn’t demand anything from God. Instead, he approached the Lord with reverence and humility, saying he was only “dust and ashes.” Abraham trusted that God would always do what is right, even when the answer was uncertain. This teaches children that prayer is not about control—it’s about trust.
2. Jesus Teaches the Difference Between Pride and Humility (Luke 18:9–14)
In the parable of the Pharisee and the tax collector, Jesus shows us two very different prayers. One was filled with pride, and the other was filled with humility. The tax collector simply cried out for mercy, and Jesus said he went home justified. This reminds kids (and adults!) that God listens to hearts, not performances.
3. God Hears Prayers That Align With His Will (1 John 5:14–15)
The Bible gives us confidence that when we pray according to God’s will, He hears us. This teaches children that humility in prayer doesn’t mean weakness—it means trusting God’s plan more than our own.
